George has been a welder for 32 years starting in 1986. Sue was in customer service and computer
operations in the banking industry for 37 years.
The idea for Star Metal came about after George lost his forever job at Butler Manufacturing. George
opened a portable welding business and then in 2007 we decided to jump in and try the Metal Art side
of welding. Star Metal Art was launched as a part time source of income! In 2014 we took our Metal
Art business a new direction. We bought a building in downtown Farmington. We have remodeled the
old commercial laundry building and made a retail shop in the front and welding in the back. Sue
has retired from her banking job and now runs the business on a daily basis. We both look forward
to our new challenge!
It is no coincidence that this quoted piece of artwork has become the main theme for Star Metal
Art. It reads... "What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail".
We have been blessed to be a family owned and operated business from the beginning. Our team
is experienced and ready to turn your vision into reality. Read more about our team below!
